Occleve
From Occleve
Welcome! The data in this wiki is used by the Open Content Learning Environment (Occleve), also known as PocketChinese. Occleve is a mobile phone based computer based learning system which stores its tests in this wiki. You can try a demo of the mobile phone software here. If you find a mistake in the tests when using PocketChinese, you can come to this wiki and fix it straightaway. This wiki is also available via a secure connection. The project maintainer is Joe Gittings.
The current 0.9.6 release supports audio clips and stroke-order animations. However, these features only work on real phones, and not on the browser-based demo. You can see a list of the audio clips here

Chinese-English tests
Please use simplified Chinese characters. A future release of the software will include an automatic simplified-to-traditional characters converter to give the option of testing on traditional characters.
English-Shanghainese tests
Note that WUU is the ISO 639-3 code for Shanghainese. The IPA symbols used probably won't display correctly in your phone, even if it's a Chinese one.
How to create new tests
- Go to the Sandbox.
- Create a link to the new test by editing the Sandbox page, and inserting this command:
[[The name of your new test]]
- When you save your changes to the sandbox page, a link to the new test will appear.
- Click the link you have just created to start editing the new test.
- The new test will not be available in the mobile phone software until an administrator adds it to the ListOfTests. This may take up to 24 hours. (But remember that any changes you make to a test are instantly available through the software).
- You might find the skeleton questions in Blank entries helpful.
- Don't forget to apply the tone sandhi rules.
